That’s 19kg without food, fuel or water. I’ll have to throw out that Al Humphreys book I was planning to read… ah, that’s saved a kilo!
And I’ve yet to add the tent, a Hilleberg Nallo2, 2.5kg with footprint carried in a thin nylon daypack.
Just bagged it all and ready to camp out at T5. 20kg.

nice bike ! really !
How dare you throw my book out – it is soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent! Perfect loo paper…
Great packing list; the Hilleberg’s are beaut but weren’t you considering a Big Agnes Seedhouse at one point? Nancy and I will be trying to do our next trip with 2 panniers only (spare tires and handlebar bags only up front) and the Seedhouse seems to scrunch up the best of the lot. Nowhere near as durable as the Nallo, but we probably won’t camp as much in Africa/Asia.
Just read your post from Turkey: reads like you’re itching to be on the bike! All the best for now, and take care of that cold.
Cheers,
Paul
Great setup mate, much more gentlemanly than my rolling hippy wagon. Have fun, and I’ll get you a pic of the bike before edition 2!
what a ride – love it!
